Steamed Savory Egg Custard with Yogurt
This is a very simple dish. The perfect steamed egg custard is supposed to have a silky smooth surface. However, this recipe requires the addition of yogurt, without water. So, my steamed egg custard doesn't have that smooth appearance, but it still tastes really good. :)
Recipe adapted from here.
Ingredients:
(Serves as a side dish for 1 adult & 1 toddler)
1 fresh shiitake mushrooms, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped red onion
2 large eggs
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon chives
2 tablespoons grated Cheddar cheese
How to:
1. Preheat steamer over high heat.
2. Heat up some olive oil in a frying pan. Lightly sauté the mushrooms and onions.
3. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs and yogurt until smooth. Stir in cooked mushrooms and onions. Then, stir in chives and grated Cheddar cheese.
4. Make sure that the water in the steamer is boiling. Steam for 8 minutes or until egg is set.
