Urgh! My company phone has SMSes coming in again! These event organizers are just so rambunctious! I'm literally forced to engage in an MSN-cum-SMS-cum-email marathon with one of my team members plus these three clients from 12 noon until the whole event is over. The event is supposed to end at 3:45pm but I received updated info that it's gonna be extended to 4pm. Oh well...
Then, two days after I came back from Russia, my father passed away. It was February 01, 2007. I was in Petaling Jaya. My father was in Bintulu. My siblings and I have bought air tickets to go home for Chinese New Year on February 14, 2007. We have not been meeting as a whole family for YEARS!!!! I was waiting for February 14. I was waiting. A phone call from Bintulu at 9am, February 01 shattered this dream....
March 01, 2007 ~ First day of working. To date, almost six months in the corporate world, the term "rat race" becomes menacingly real. A rat race is a term used for an endless, self-defeating or pointless pursuit. It conjures up the image of the futile efforts of a lab rat trying to escape whilst running around a maze or in a wheel. In an analogy to the modern city, many rats in a single maze run around making a lot of noise while bumping into each other, but ultimately achieve nothing (meaningful) either collectively or individually. A rat race is also a term often used to describe work, particularly excessive work. In general terms, if one works, one is in the rat race.
Hahaha.... Too bad. This is exactly what I want to DEFY! It's the mentality that kills the joy and passion of working. My principle is: Love your work, be passionate with your work, get along with your colleagues, and everything is OK! To climb higher comes next. Higher salary comes next. When the time comes, I'll go for those.

Upon graduating from the University of Malaya (presumably Malaysia's most prestigious university) in May 2003, I joined a Christian training, a full-time course for two full years. My perspective at that time was to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and His church full-time. So, I worked with the church where I grew up for almost two years. From May 2003 until January 2007, I visited various countries, e.g. Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, and Russia. Then, two days after I came back from Russia, my father passed away.
