Illusion Apartment (异度公寓) is a 2010 psychological horror movie from China.
Here's the synopsis: Mei Zi, a well-known mystery and paranormal novelist suffers from nervous breakdown after the death of her son. She claims that she can see her dead son walking around and weird phenomena begins to unravel in her huge and empty villa. Her once sound mental state quickly deteriorates and she has to be hospitalised.
At the same time, Mei Zi suspects that her husband is seeing another woman. Unable to withstand the stress, she begins to resolve to unimaginable ways to stop her nightmares once and for all.
Hmmm... *shakes head* This is a very bad movie. Lousy acting from everyone, unimaginative cinematography, and an annoying 'I-told-you-there's-no-ghost-in-the-world' kind of ending - all these contribute to a very dissatisfied DVD-watching session.
I agree with scientific explanation to every situation that happen around us, no matter how paranormal it may look on the surface. However, to end the story by explaining it in a step-by-step and right in your face approach is seriously unacceptable. I think it's horrible and disappointing.
Spoiler: It turns out that whatever happens to Mei Zi in her house is contributed by her split personality disorder that causes her to do things that normal people won't be doing.
I reminded myself not to be fooled by movie poster next time. I'd say that this movie has a rather good poster that reminds of Korean horror movie. Too bad the movie is a total flop and crap. Sigh.
