Being caught in traffic jam on any highway in Klang Valley is a nightmarish affair and I'd not hesitate to do my very best to avoid this from happening. But... I ain't always that lucky.
Here's an account of how unlucky things could turn out to be.
Part I: Tuesday, 21 September 2010, morning
Supposed route: Kelana Jaya (SS7/19) -- Taman Perindustrian Puchong -- Kelana Jaya (SS6/12)
Supposed highways: Two of Klang Valley's most prominent highways, i.e. Federal Highway and Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP)
What really happened:
- Traffic was rather smooth from Kelana Jaya to Puchong.
- Traffic from Puchong back to Kelana Jaya was nightmarish. The whole LDP was super jam after exiting the Puchong toll booth till SS6!
- So, I took a left turn into Sunway, bypassing Sunway Medical Center and Sunway Pyramid, cut into Federal Highway and went up the ramp that leads to Digital Mall before heading back to SS6.
- This route was definitely longer and more time-consuming but definitely better than staying stuck in the jam on the whole stretch of LDP.

Part II: Tuesday, 21 September 2010, evening
Supposed route: Kelana Jaya (SS6/12) -- Solaris Mont Kiara
Supposed highways: Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP), Federal Highway, Kerinchi Link, New Pantai Expressway (NPE)
What really happened:
- After exiting the Kiara toll booth, I was supposed to go straight into Mont Kiara before heading towards Solaris Mont Kiara.
- Dunno what happened, I went into Sri Hartamas, got caught in a massive traffic jam under one of those many confusing flyovers, and took a left turn into Garden International School, which happened to be a turning too early to get me on the right track to Solaris Mont Kiara. From then on, I got lost on a weird, tiny road full of cars and potholes into Segambut, then Bandar Manjalara.
- When I finally managed to get out of that area with the help of David's colleague over the phone, I've been "gallivanting" on the road for almost one hour. O_O
Part III: Wednesday, 22 September 2010, midnight
Supposed route: Solaris Mont Kiara -- Taman Desa
Supposed highways: Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP), Federal Highway, New Pantai Expressway (NPE), and/or Kerinchi Link
What really happened:
- I didn't know how to use Kerinchi Link to get from Mont Kiara to Taman Desa. So, I drove all the way back to Kelana Jaya via LDP starting 11:20pm. Idiot me.
- Then, after exiting LDP, I could choose either the Federal Highway or the NPE to get to Taman Desa. Since it was already midnight, I took the risk and choose the notorious Federal Highway.
- Fine. Some idiots who were assigned to "smother" the highway with black tar decided to close all 4-5 lanes into one pathetic lane just before the turning into Mid Valley. I needed to get pass this stretch of the highway to get me to the Seremban-Melaka highway that will lead me to Taman Desa!
- Havoc man! I nearly died of exhaustion the moment I reached Taman Desa. It was 12:20am. Another wasted hour on the road. O_O
Conclusion: Klang Valley highways and traffic are seriously unfriendly and hopeless! Hmmpphh!
