Everyone's After Something
Takers (2010) is a 2010 crime movie centers on a team of seasoned professional bank robbers: Gordon Cozier (Idris Elba), John Rahway (Paul Walker), A.J. (Hayden Christensen), and brothers Jake (Michael Ealy) and Jesse Attica (Chris Brown).
A former member of their team, Ghost (Tip T.I. Harris), who's just been released from prison convinces the group to strike an armored truck carrying $20 million. The "takers" carefully plan their strategy of the grand heist, only to be interrupted by a hard-boiled detective, Jack Welles (Matt Dillon) and his partner, Eddie Hatcher (Jay Hernandez).
Are you expecting grand robbery scenes with loud, fatal shoot-outs between the robbers and LAPD? Well, you'll be surprised to find yourself watching more side plots that support and reveal the real strength of this movie. These side plots, mainly centered on family issues and marital problems, set this movie apart from the rest of the movies of similar genre.
I agree with this comment from IMDb: Should you see this movie? Yes, it will keep your attention and most of the action is believable. There is genuine balance and chemistry amongst the characters. The director did try something different by putting a twist in the middle of the movie instead of at the end. He gets points for that. He also gets points for the elaborate shoot out scene; I applaud his choice of string instrument background music and lack of loud gun noises to give it a huge impact.
Overall, this is a rather good movie to kill time, especially during holidays. :)
