Every year, one in 700 people wake up during surgery. When they planned her husband's murder, they never thought he'd be the one.
Awake (2007) is a supernatural crime thriller.
Synopsis: Clayton Beresford Jr. (Hayden Christensen) is a young rich millionaire. He has a loving yet controlling mother, Lilith (Lena Olin), a gorgeous girlfriend, Sam (Jessica Alba), and his late father's successful business.
However, he's suffering from a heart problem and needs to undergo a risky heart transplant. His good friend, Dr. Jack Harper (Terrence Howard) is willing conduct the surgery. Once he's under anesthesia and ready for surgery, Clay realizes he's awake and aware, but paralyzed on the operation table. Soon, he discovers that these doctors are in a conspiracy to kill him and get his money. He must save himself before time runs out.
The movie's saving element is the unexpected twist when the conspirators are exposed. I don't quite like watching Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen. Alba is being pretty and sexy - her character requires her to seduce and act like a victim; Christensen looks like a helpless idiot, well, perhaps because his character needs him to be like that. Sadly to say, I don't see any sizzling chemistry between the two of them.
So, don't bother watching this movie unless you happen to be one of Jessica Alba's many fans.
