Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) is a superhero movie based on the Marvel Comics.
Synopsis: 1942, World War II. A skinny and frail but strong-willed Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is rejected five times in a row for military service. He's given a chance by Dr. Erskine (Stanley Tucci), a scientist who recruits him for a "super-soldier" experiment.
Proving his extraordinary courage and selflessness, Rogers undergoes the experiment and emerges from the experiment chamber tall and muscular. Within a few minutes, Dr. Erskine is assassinated by an undercover HYDRA agent. HYDRA is the Nazi's secret research department headed by Johann Schmidt (Hugo Weaving) who later becomes Red Skull.
With Dr. Erskine's death, the super-soldier project is shelved and Rogers is being utilized as a war propaganda mascot. Then, the time comes when Rogers sets out on a perilous journey to save his comrades and wars against HYDRA that truly makes him Captain America.
This is indeed an entertaining superhero movie with all the necessary feel-good elements, such as a handsome, buff, and courageous superhero, patriotism during war time, a woman falling in love with the superhero, the superhero saves the world, and finally, the superhero "dies" in action. The special effects are pretty impressive, especially the effects that make Chris Evans looks like a malnourished, sickly youngster.
By the way, do stay back until the end of the credits. You'll be shown a short clip from The Avengers - another superhero movie from Marvel that brings together Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.
