Own Your Share in Babydash Today!

Who is Babydash?

Babydash (https://www.babydash.com.my) is an online store selling daily baby necessities such as diapers, milk, wet wipes, bath & skincare products, etc... basically everything parents need for their children.

Babydash was founded in 2011 by Lavinie and Shan Li, two mothers who realized the lack of convenient options to get their daily baby necessities. They aim to make this errand as hassle-free and painless as possible by offering an easy and convenient way for parents to get their daily baby necessities without having to suffer long queues at the grocer or lug bulky heavy bags around. So, you don't need to to run from store to store in search of the one brand your baby likes and wasting time and petrol as you do.

The Babydash Team is doing a great job in ensuring that their customers have the best possible experience each time they shop with Babydash.

We provide convenience.
We are a community of mummies.
We have products which aren't easy to find.
We go the extra mile.

How to own your share in Babydash?

Babydash will be issuing new shares through an Equity Crowd-funding platform called pitchIN. All of you will now have an opportunity to own a stake in our company! We want to not only be an online store run by mummies for mummies but also owned by mummies (and daddies too!).

Providing more play activities for my three-year-old

It's widely acknowledged that play has positive effects on early childhood learning and development. Research shows that play contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children as well as providing ideal opportunities for parents to engage with their children.

This full report offers a very in-depth read: The Importance of Play in Promoting Healthy Child Development and Maintaining Strong Parent-Child Bonds. You can click on the link to read the report.

I'm facing some challenges when it comes to providing sufficient quality play activities for my toddler.

First, I'm heavily pregnant and exhausted most of the time, so it's kinda difficult to prepare different kinds of activities for him.

Second, in this multi-screen era that we are currently living in, to be realistic, giving in to smartphones and TV is a somewhat useful solution. However, finding a balance in digital parenting versus traditional play can be tricky.

Third, we are a household of two working parents without grandparents or stay-in helper or extended family members who can watch over our child. So, after working the whole day, we can be quite tired and sometimes the last thing we want to do is to play with him. Sigh.

However, we still try our very best to give him hands-on play activities besides screen time. You can browse through the album below to see the activities:

The album below is about the Play Subscription (Trial Package) by Ele Boo which I have blogged about.

Play Subscription (Trial Package) by Ele Boo

Children learn best through play. Ele Boo is launching soon and they are committed to bring back the fun in learning; where kids learn to make sense of the world around them by developing important life skills through free play and guided play.

Ele Boo strongly believes in the power of play and its role in developing a child's social, literacy, cognitive, creative, and executive abilities hence the establishment of Ele Boo as a safe haven for children to learn through play.

They encourage curiosity and nurture creativity through programs, subscription, and other initiatives. So, do stay tuned to their launch very soon. You can check out Ele Boo on Facebook or subscribe to their newsletter for updates.

*****************************

I have tried their Play Subscription (trial package) of two boxes for a month.

My feedback:

1. Two boxes per month is good. The child has two weeks for each box. But they do have the option for one box per month.

2. The toys and books in the subscription package are tailored based on the child's age group, so I'm pretty happy to see building blocks and bristles in the two boxes for my 3yo. He's currently into Lego and Transformers kind of toys, i.e. toys that need his hands and fingers (fine motor skill) and imagination.

3. This is a rental service, i.e. after two weeks, I will return the first box and at the same time I will receive the second box of the month. They provide delivery service and self pick-up at selected locations. For convenience's sake, I think getting the boxes delivered to my office/house makes more sense albeit the price.

4. As parents, we buy toys for our kids, so the amount of toys in the house keeps growing. By subscribing to this rental service, we can expose our kids to a variety of toys without turning our house into a toy shop. Lol.

5. Will I subscribe to this service when it's launched? Yes. I'm sold by the idea that my kids get to play with different kind of toys every two weeks.

6. What about the price? I believe they are announcing soon (in December if I remember correctly).

P.S.: This is not a sponsored post, I purchased this trial package. Opinions are of my own.

Hospitalization experience at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur

My very first hospitalization experience at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur happened about a month ago. There was some sort of complication, so for peace of mind, I went to the labor ward to get myself checked. After the nurses and my ob-gyn completed all the necessary check-ups, by 5:30pm, I was advised to be admitted overnight for observation. I agreed, as it's always better to err on the side of caution.

This was the Supreme Single Room that I stayed in for one night.

The hospital bed.

After the admission procedure which involved lots of paperwork was done, I was given the first dexamethasone jab around 6:30pm.

Note: Dexamethasone is an antenatal corticosteroids, usually prescribed to help prepare the fetus's lungs in case preterm labor (giving birth before 37 weeks gestation) happens.

The next jab was to be given 12 hours later (6:30am), which explained why I had to be admitted.

A "dining" table with wheels.

A bench for visitors and a baby blue safety cabinet for valuables. The cabinet also served as a table to put water jugs.

My favorite item - the meal chit!

This was dinner - white rice with stewed fish and stir-fried vegetables. I had this on the evening I was admitted.

About 8:30pm, hubby brought over our boy and we spent some time talking. The nurses also came in to take my blood. After hubs and boy left, I spent the remainder of the night watching TV before sleeping. It was a fitful sleep though, maybe because the room was cold and the bed was hard. Or maybe I was just anxious about the other dexa jab. Needles weren't my favorite thing on earth. Lol.

This was the next morning's breakfast that I've selected - nasi lemak with soy milk. I was starving!

This was the lunch set that I've chosen - steamed rice with kungpo chicken and vegetables.

I was discharged after that, around 3:30pm. Hubby fetched me from the hospital and after we did the discharge procedure and paid the hefty bill (sigh), we went for a date. Lol.

So far, I'm well and the complication doesn't recur again. Phew.

On a side note, here are the room rates for maternity-related rooms.

Now I'm counting down to the day of my birthing! A few more weeks to go! :)

Banana Blondies

Banana Blondies

I'm slowly to pick up baking again with these recent bakes: Apple & Walnut Loaf, Apple Upside-Down Cake, and now Banana Blondies.

Recipe adapted from here.

Ingredients:
(Serves 8)

115g butter, melted
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 egg
1 & 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup mashed banana
2 small bananas, cut into round slices

How to:

1. Preheat the oven to 170°C. Spray an 8x8-inch baking pan with baking spray.

2. Beat melted butter and sugar with an electric mixer in a mixing bowl until well combined. Add in egg and vanilla extract. Continue mixing until incorporated. Stir in salt, flour, and mashed banana and mix until batter is smooth and even. Spread in prepared baking pan.

3. Arrange banana slices on top of the batter. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until center is set.

4. Remove from oven and cool for 30 minutes. Cut into squares and serve warm.

Delicious squares that are best eaten with a hot cuppa milk tea/coffee!

I'm so gonna buy more bananas and let them become overripe so that I can make them into these blondies again!
