If you're a fan of Korean cuisine or looking to try something unique (Korean food is more than just kimchi jjigae, sundubu jjigae, BBQ, okay?), then Soondaeya in Ampang Jaya is a must-visit spot for authentic soondae (Korean blood sausage). This unassuming eatery is a hidden gem for food lovers craving a taste of Korea in the heart of Malaysia. It's non-halal.
As you step into Soondaeya, its décor and ambiance will make you feel as though you've been transported straight to Seoul (at least that's what I feel when I compare with what I see on K-dramas).
What is Soondae?
Authentic Korean soondae is made from pig’s intestines stuffed with a mixture of glass noodles, barley, and blood. They are often paired with a side of salt or spicy dipping sauce.
The photo above is the soon dae set for 1 pax. As you can see, there are 6 pieces of soon dae and some pig innards slices.
If given the choice, I'd have ordered their soondae gukbap (a hearty pork bone soup with sliced soondae, vegetables, and rice) or modeum sundae (assorted Korean blood sausage platter). Next time then!
